James Andrews, M.D. – Founder of the Andrews American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama whose mission is to improve the understanding, prevention and treatment of sports-related injuries through research and education. Mike Saunders – Former athletic trainer for the New York Knicks for 27 seasons. Mike began with the team in July of 1978, replacing the legendary Danny Whelan. The Queens, N.Y. native served as the trainer for the Eastern Conference in the 1986 and 1998 All-Star games, and was named as the 1994 NBA Trainer of the Year by the National Basketball Trainers Association (NBTA).
